Welcome to the  Ophthalmology Practice of Dr. Scott I. Afran!

Dr. Afran is a Board Certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist who has been in private practice for over 20 years in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. In addition, Dr. Afran holds academic teaching appointments at both New York Medical College in Valhalla and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Afran specializes in providing medical and surgical ophthalmologic care to children from birth to adulthood.  

He sees patients for reasons including but not limited to:

  • ·             exams for eyeglasses and refractive errors
  • ·             eye muscle imbalances/strabismus (eyes crossing in/out)
  • ·             amblyopia (lazy eye)
  • ·             tearing/blocked tear ducts
  • ·             learning/developmental disorders
  • ·             iritis/uveitis, cataracts
  • ·             premature infants/retinopathy of prematurity
  • ·             ocular infections
  • ·             nystagmus
  • ·             low vision
  • ·             eye trauma

Appointments are available from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM from Monday to Friday.

Directions to Office

The office is located in the Lord and Taylor shopping center in Eastchester, N.Y.  The office is in the same building as Starbucks Coffee and Park Hill Shoes; the entrance is on the side of the building behind the shoe store. From Upstate N.Y., you can reach the office by taking the Thruway (87) south over the Tappan Zee Bridge; once over the bridge stay on 87 south (do not take Rt. 287) to the Cross County Parkway East to the Hutchinson River Parkway North. Stay on the Hutch until exit 17/North Ave-Eastchester/N. Rochelle, at the end of the exit ramp make a left onto North Ave. Then make left at first light and cross over the Hutch and make a right at the first light onto California Rd. (there is a 25 mph speed limit on California Rd.)  Proceed on California Rd. approx. ¾ mile and make a right at the light onto White Plains Road and enter shopping center on the right. From the Bronx/NYC one may proceed to the Hutchinson River Parkway North and follow the directions above.
